History of Persian rule over the three islands
The historical accounts of the Greeks and Romans and pre-Islamic travelogues show that the inhabitants of all the coasts and islands of the Persian Gulf were Iranian. The Achaemenid documents and inscriptions discovered on Kharg Island are an example of these cases. The Kharg cuneiform inscription measuring 20 x 30 centimeters is written on the island's native coral stone, and the crown engraved on it indicates the effective rule and presence of the Iranian empire over these islands. This unique and unparalleled inscription was accidentally found in 2007 during the asphalting and construction of a road on Kharg Island.
