Why did the Persian language, with all its glory, fade away in India?
The relations between Iranian and Indian poets during the period known as the Indian style are very complex and deep.
In this session, Dr. Mahmoud Fotuhi, a professor at Ferdowsi University, will talk to us about the factors that created these conflicts and their consequences, including the emergence of the Urdu language and the fading of the Persian language in India.

The Shahnameh Studies Club, with the aim of introducing children to Iran's cultural and literary heritage, is offering an online educational workshop on the Shahnameh, taught by Ghazaleh Tavakolifar, a Shahnameh instructor and child education facilitator.
The workshop consists of eight online sessions for children aged 8 to 14, organized into two age groups based on participants' educational and developmental needs. Sessions will be held every Wednesday. In a dynamic, friendly, and participatory environment, children will explore the remarkable world of the Shahnameh, become acquainted with its legendary heroes, and discover the humanistic and cultural values embedded in this monumental work.
During each session, selected stories from the Shahnameh will be narrated and discussed in language appropriate to the children's age group. Participants will also be introduced to selected verses by Ferdowsi while learning timeless values such as honesty, justice, wisdom, friendship, responsibility, courage, and respect for cultural identity through the epic narratives.
The workshop follows a creative and interactive teaching approach, encouraging children to become active participants rather than passive listeners. Through discussion, question-and-answer activities, collaborative exercises, and active engagement in the learning process, participants will gain a meaningful and lasting appreciation of the Shahnameh. Beyond fostering an interest in Persian literature, this approach also helps develop children's language skills, imagination, creativity, and self-confidence.
Ferdowsi's Shahnameh, the greatest national epic of Iran, is an invaluable treasury of Iranian culture, language, and identity. Introducing younger generations to this enduring masterpiece plays an important role in strengthening children's connection to the country's history, culture, and literary heritage. Programs such as this provide a valuable opportunity to pass this cultural legacy on to future generations while cultivating a deeper appreciation of the Shahnameh's enduring stories and iconic characters.
