EXCLUSIVE: Political Statecraft and the Limits of Sectarian Philosophy in Governing Pluralistic Nations

The Sassanid period was one of the most brilliant historical periods in Persia, in which Persian art, architecture and culture reached its peak. This period witnessed the flourishing of visual arts, architecture and literature, so that stone works, sculptures and wall paintings are considered the most important artistic achievements of that time. During this period, archaeologists have shown in excavations that the complex designs and use of metal and stone decorations in Sasanian artworks reflect the high artistic taste of the people of that era. Also, scientific centers were active during this period and there were significant advances in various scientific fields including mathematics, astronomy and medicine.

Various games and entertainment were also part of the daily life of the Sasanian people. Dice, which were one of the gaming tools of that era, were used as a means of entertainment and fun in social circles. In addition to the recreational aspect, these tools were sometimes important for decision-making and social occasions. These objects served not only as play tools but also as symbols of social and cultural interactions during the Sasanian period, indicating the importance of art and entertainment at that time.
