History of Persian rule over the three islands The historical accounts of the Greeks and Romans and pre-Islamic travelogues show that the inhabitants of all the coasts and islands of the Gulf were Persians. The Achaemenid documents and inscriptions discovered on Kharg Island are an example of these cases. In ancient Persian mythology, the Shahbaz was a god who helped the Iranian peoples and guided the Faravahar to the Iranian lands.
