Mohammad-Ebrahim Zarei said that inscriptions and historical documents provide valuable information about the social structure and everyday life of people in ancient Iran, adding that their careful examination can shed light on various aspects of social life, including the status of women and their roles in society.

Mohammad-Ebrahim Zarei, Head of the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, referring to the passing of Professor Mohammad Mirshokraei, a prominent figure in the field of cultural heritage, and to the difficult circumstances of life today, said: “I hope that, despite the difficult conditions in which we live, we can continue to draw strength from the companionship and presence of our dear colleagues and friends in various fields and continue along this path.”

Referring to his own background in cultural heritage, he said: “I am proud to have been active in this field since 1998, and from the very beginning I learned lessons from the leading figures in this field that have remained with me to this day.”

Recalling the country’s scholars, professors, and cultural and academic figures, Zarei added: “One of the first statements I heard during my professional career concerned the importance of courtesy and ethics. The memory of the teachers who taught us these values will always remain alive.”

The Head of the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, referring to the position of Persian poetry and literature in Iranian culture, said: “In few countries can we find a culture in which people still read the poetry of poets who lived hundreds of years ago, live with it, and take pleasure in it.”

He continued: “Hafez, Saadi, Rumi, and other great Iranian poets have left behind enduring works, and this cultural continuity is one of the important characteristics of Iranian society. The fact that poetry written hundreds of years ago continues to have a presence in people’s lives today demonstrates the depth and continuity of this culture.”

Zarei then referred to the historical background of administrative and cultural systems in Iran, saying: “If we look back at Iran’s historical periods, we can see that Iranians had administrative and bureaucratic structures from ancient times, and the surviving remains and inscriptions from those periods document an important part of this history.”

Referring to the Behistun Inscription and the reign of Darius, Zarei said: “Inscriptions and historical documents provide valuable information about the social structure and lives of people in ancient Iran, and their careful study can illuminate various aspects of social life, including the status of women and the roles they played in society.”

Emphasizing the importance of art in preserving and transmitting this heritage, he added: “Today, artists working in various fields of the national arts contribute to preserving and introducing the culture and heritage of this land through their writing, creativity, and works.”

Zarei also emphasized the need for the continued activities of the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, saying: “I ask all of you to make every effort possible to ensure that the Research Institute remains standing and that the path of research and the preservation of cultural heritage continues.”
